Hot-rolled steel coils are produced by rolling steel slabs at extremely high temperatures (typically above 1,000∘C). The high heat makes the steel malleable, allowing it to be easily shaped into thinner sheets. Once the desired thickness is achieved, the steel sheet is coiled up.
